Trade Journaling & Review Stack
Education about software tools only. Not investment advice. TraderStacks does not recommend any security, coin, contract, strategy or trade. Prices were checked on the date shown and may change. Past or backtested results never guarantee future results.
Who it's for: anyone who trades stocks, options, futures or crypto and wants a repeatable way to review their own process. A journal doesn't tell you what to trade. It shows you whether you followed your own rules.

How to choose
- Automatic broker import: if you place many trades, pick a journal that imports from your broker or platform so you don't type fills by hand. Confirm your broker is on the vendor's import list first.
- Never share broker passwords. Prefer CSV uploads or read-only, official broker connections. Walk away from any tool that asks for your trading login or for custody of funds.
- Tags over totals: the most useful fields are setup name, whether you followed the plan, emotional state, and a mistake tag. P&L is the least useful thing to stare at.
- Free first: a spreadsheet plus an AI assistant gets you most of the value. Upgrade only when manual entry is the thing stopping you from journaling.
Setup (about 30 minutes)
- Pick one journal and create these tags: setup, followed plan (yes/no), mistake type, emotion, market condition.
- Import or enter the last 20 trades. Strip account numbers and personal notes from any file you upload.
- For each trade, add one sentence: "What was my plan, and did I follow it?"
- Add a chart screenshot at entry and exit if your tool supports it.
Weekly AI review (works with any journal)
- Export last week's trades as a CSV, with your personal notes removed if you prefer.
- Prompt: "Group these trades by setup, time of day and holding time. Show where my rules were broken and which mistake tags repeat. Don't suggest new trades, tickers or position sizes."
- Follow-up prompt: "Summarize my three most common process mistakes in plain English, with the trade dates they came from."
- Write down one process change for next week. Ignore anything that sounds like a prediction or a P&L target.
Monthly review
- Compare rule-following rate month over month, not profit.
- Retire tags you never use, and add one for any new mistake that keeps showing up.
- Re-check your tool's price and import support. We re-verify listed prices weekly, but vendors change plans.
Red flags we watch for
Journals or "coaches" that promise win rates or income, sell signals alongside the journal, or ask for broker credentials. We don't list tools that do this as recommendations.
Education only, never trade advice.
